Preliminary Task
Editing
All members of the group contributed to the editing of the clip and this took around 3 hours to complete. When editing the clip, we added transitions such as fades in between shots to make the sequence run smoother. At one point in the clip where the camera pans round to show Charlotte Hunter looking to her left, the camera pan was very slow, so we spead it up during editing. Charlotte Tomlinson found sound effects to play alongside the sequence and we added this, increasing and decreasing the sound so that the sound fitted around the dialogue. Charlotte Tomlinson also added a Title to the clip and also added the coloured bars at the end, along with a long beep sound. This was then edited using the video effects. The other members of the group including myself, edited the sound and transition between each shot.

Preliminary Task
Filming
When filming the Preliminary Task clip we used a panosonic camera, tripod and reflectors and diffusors. We then chose a science classroom and corridor outside the room as the location. The start of the clip is filmed in the corridor where Charlotte opens the door, and the rest of the filming was done inside the Science classroom. We left the lights off when filming and used the natural light comming through the windows as we felt that this fitted the thriller theme, an I reflected it onto the characters when I wasn't in the shot using the reflectors and diffusors. Katie Morrice was in charge of filming the sequence and although during this task we didnt take it in turns to film, we will be sharing the job of filming the sequence we produce for the Main Task.
During filming we made sure that we stuck to the orginal brief as best as we could, but have adapted it slightly in some areas. We made sure we included the 180 degree rule, eyeline matching and action matching shots throughout the sequence.

Preliminary Task
Planning
For our Preliminary Task, the class divided into groups of there choice and were given the brief for the task. I worked with Charlotte Hunter, Charlotte Tomlinson and Katie Morrice for the task. For the task we were asked to create a 30 second film sequence, in which a character enters a room, sits opposite another and exchanges 4 lines of dialogue. We were asked to include different camera angles and movements such as eyeline match, 180 degree rule and action matching. As a group we discussed our ideas and considered camera movement and angles, sound and the mise-en-scene. Our final idea was to create a 30 second sequence from a thriller film with a ending which would leave our audience in suspense. We decided that making a thriller style clip for the Preliminary Task would be good practice for the Main Task. We then discussed the order in which the sequence would be filmed, and possible sound effects and audio to be played alongside the film.

Storyboard
The storyboard shows the sequence in which the clip will be filmed. Each member of the group contributed to the storyboard by drawing 3 boxes each. Charlotte Hunter played the main character who finds another character sat in the corner of the Science room (played by Charlotte Tomlinson). I played the dark figure who follows behind in the shadows.
